Super Junior Member Profile and Facts: Yesung

Kim Jong-hoon (born on August 24, 1984), better known by his stage name Yesung, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Super Junior and its sub-units Super Junior-K.R.Y., Super Junior-H and S.M. The Ballad. His stage name Yesung is derived from the Korean phrase “예술가의 성대” (lit. meaning: vocal cords of an artist) and can be translated as an “art-like voice”.

Early Life:

Yesung was born in Seoul and later moved to Cheonan, South Chungcheong when he was 10 years old. He has a younger brother, whose name is Kim Jong-jin. From a young age, Yesung expressed an interest in singing. In 1999, he joined a broadcast singing competition and won the first place at the ‘Cheonan Singing Competition‘. In 2001, Yesung’s mother, Im Bo-kyung, signed him up to audition for SM Entertainment’s ‘Starlight Casting System‘, in which he impressed the judges with his “artistic voice”, and became a trainee under SM Entertainment the same year.

Career:

1. 2005 – 2007 = Debut with Super Junior:

Yesung officially debuted as part of the 12-member project group ‘Super Junior 05′ on 6 November 2005 on SBS’s music program ‘Popular Songs’, performing their first single, ‘Twins (Knock Out)’. Their debut album ‘SuperJunior05 (Twins)‘ was released a month later on 5 December 2005 and debuted at no.3 on the monthly MIAK K-pop album charts.

In March 2006, SM Entertainment began to recruit new members for the next Super Junior generation. However, plans changed and the company declared a halt in forming future Super Junior generations. Following the addition of thirteenth member Kyuhyun, the group dropped the suffix ‘05‘ and became officially credited as ‘Super Junior‘.The re-polished group’s first CD single ‘U‘ was released on 7 June 2006, which was their most successful single until the release of ‘Sorry, Sorry‘ in March 2009. In the fall of 2007, the group released their second official album, ‘Don’t Don’, which became Super Junior’s best-selling album and Korea’s second best-selling album of the year.

From September 2006 to September 2007, Yesung was host for radio program, ‘M.I.R.A.C.L.E for You’, where members of Super Junior often appeared as guests. However, before the radio show’s first anniversary, Yesung left in order to concentrate on Super Junior’s second album, ‘Don’t Don’. The last air date for the radio show was 8 September 2007. In November 2006, Yesung, along with Super Junior members Ryeowook and Kyuhyun, formed a sub-unit, ‘Super Junior-K.R.Y.‘, a group specializing in R&B ballads. The trio debuted on November 5, 2006 on KBS’s ‘Music Bank’.

He debuted as an actor on 26 July 2007 with the release of ‘Attack on the Pin-Up Boys’, a high school comedy starring fellow Super Junior members. He played the school’s rock star who gets attacked by a mysterious force.

2. 2008 – 2013 = Super Junior-H debut, Solo Activities and K.R.Y. debut in Japan:

On 9 May 2008, Yesung was sent to the hospital after he collapsed during the ‘Marathon of Hope‘ in which he and band-mates Shindong, Sungmin, Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Kangin participated. The event was in collaboration with the SBS charity program ‘Hope TV 24‘ and the money raised was donated to a Mongolian school in South Korea which was at risk of closing down. Due to the injury, Yesung was unable to complete the marathon, but appeared on stage on crutches with his fellow members. Also on 8 August, Yesung was sent to the hospital after falling from the stage while rehearsing at the KBS music program, ‘Music Bank’. The injury aggravated old injuries from the neck and waist and he was hospitalized for two days. In June 2008, Yesung became a member of Super Junior-H, releasing their first mini-album titled ‘Cooking? Cooking!’. He sang ‘Love Really Hurts‘ for the original soundtrack of television drama ‘Tazza’, which aired from 16 September to 25 November 2008. In 2009, Yesung made his musical theatre debut in ‘Namhansanseong’, which is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Hoon. Yesung played villain “Jung Myung-soo”, a servant-turned-interpreter who feels sad from being betrayed by his country, from 9 October to 4 November at the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House. On 6 November, he made a surprise appearance on KBS’ ‘Music Bank‘, with SHINee, by replacing Jonghyun, who was recovering from influenza.

In 2010, Yesung starred in the title role of musical ‘Hong Gil Dong’, alongside band-mate Sungmin who also played “Hong Gildong”. It took place at Woori Financial Art Hall of the Olympic Park from 18 February to 18 April 2010. On 31 March 2010, Yesung contributed to the OST of television drama ‘Cinderella’s Sister’, starring Moon Geun-young and Chun Jung-myung. The song, ‘It Has To Be You‘, is a ballad that tells the story about a man who refused to look for another girl, except for the one he loved. On 4 June, Yesung performed it for the first time on ‘Music Bank‘ which reached no.3 on show’s K-Chart.

In July 2010, Yesung appeared with band-mate Leeteuk as MCs for MBC’s ‘Love Pursuer’. The show presents a Korean celebrity being showered with affection from a secret admirer, with the challenge of guessing who the admirer is. Yesung was himself the subject of admiration in episode 10. From 1 October to 28 October 2010, also he starred in his third musical ‘Spamalot’ playing the main role of “Sir Galahad”. On 29 December 2010, Yesung together with Luna of f(x), sang the track ‘Loving You’, on part 2 of the original soundtrack of KBS drama ‘President’.

During the recording of ‘Dream Team 2′ on 21 August 2011, he fell from a platform and strained his waist again, but was reported to be a minor injury. On 4 September, he became the new MC for ‘MUZIT’, a musical talk show alongside K.Will and veteran composer Yoo Youngsuk. It showcased various musical talents from the Korean music industry.

On 31 January 2011, Yesung’s third solo song, from the OST of SBS’s drama, ‘Paradise Ranch’, was released. ‘Waiting For You’ is a ballad that tells the story of a man who is adamant on waiting until the end of the world for his lover to return to him. He performed it for the first time at Super Junior K.R.Y’s first concert in Seoul on 11 February.

From 28 February to 21 June 2011, Yesung temporarily replaced band-mate Eunhyuk as radio DJ partnering with Leeteuk on ‘Super Junior’s Kiss the Radio’, while Eunhyuk was away on promotional activities for Super Junior-M’s third extended play ‘Perfection’. In June, he joined KBS’s ‘Immortal Songs 2‘ where singers render their own versions of old songs from music legends. He lost in the first episode but won the third episode when he sang Boohwal’s song ‘The More I Love‘.

His second duet with Jang Hyejin, was released on 14 July 2011 throughout Korea’s digital charts. ‘I Am Behind You‘ is from the album ‘Cooperation Part 1′ . The song has a fantastic harmony and is mixed with the lyrics of secretly loving someone and wondering if that person could possibly be feeling the same way about them. On 18 July 2011, ‘For One Day‘ was released. It is from the historical drama ‘Warrior Baek Dong Soo’. The song explores an emotional farewell from a lover. Yesung performed this live for the first time on 6 October 2011 at Super Junior K.R.Y.’s concert in Nanjing.

On 27 September 2011, he along with Eunhyuk and Shindong filled in for band-mate Heechul, who was enlisted for mandatory military service on 1 September, during the performance, on ‘Music Bank‘ and ‘Show! Music Core’, of Kim Jang-hoon’s latest single ‘Breakups are So Like Me‘.

On 23 October 2011, Yesung performed in the New York SM Town concert at Madison Square Garden.

On 11 November 2012, Yesung and his brother Kim Jong Jin had officially opened their cafe named “Mouse Rabbit Coffee”.

In November 2012, Super Junior K.R.Y. held a concert tour in Japan, ‘Super Junior K.R.Y. Special Winter Concert‘. They announced that they would be releasing their first single 6 years after their debut. The teaser for ‘Promise You’ was released on November 21, 2012, followed by the single on 23 January 2013. It debuted at no.2 on Oricon’s daily singles chart.

On 13 February 2013, Yesung’s OST ‘Gray Paper‘ for SBS’s melodrama ‘That Winter, the Wind Blows’ was released. The track was composed by label-mate Kangta and he performed it on SBS’s music program ‘Inkigayo’ on February 17.

Yesung announced at ‘Super Show 5′ that he would enlist for his mandatory military service in 2013. He served as a public service worker after four weeks of basic training.

3. 2014 – 2015 = S.M the Ballad, Return with Super Junior and Solo Activities:

During military service in February 2014, Yesung joined the ballad group ‘S.M the Ballad‘, initially formed by SM Entertainment in 2010. On the group’s 2nd album, he had a solo song for the track ‘Blind‘, but he didn’t participate during the promotions.

Super Junior-K.R.Y. reunited with Yesung’s return from military service Super Junior-K.R.Y. Japan Tour was started in Yokohama on June 2–3 and had a total of 11 performances. In July 2015, SM Entertainment announced Super Junior-K.R.Y. would start their tour in Seoul at the Olympic Hall in Seoul on August 22 and 23. The trio released a Japanese single Japan titled ‘Join Hands‘ on 5 August 2015.

On 8 July 2015, SM Entertainment announced that Yesung would re-join Super Junior for the special album, ‘Devil’ which was released on July 16 to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary.

In August, Yesung’s solo ‘Dreaming’ from the OST of MBC’s drama, ‘Splendid Politics‘ was released. In November, Yesung played a role in the Korean drama ‘Awl’.

4. 2016 – present = Solo Debut:

On the 12th of April 2016, SM Entertainment revealed that Yesung’s solo debut album ‘Here I Am’ would be released on April 19, 2016. Yesung made his solo debut stage on April 21. Yesung held his first solo concert titled ‘Sweet Coffee’, part of the concert series ‘The AGIT’ by S.M. Entertainment artists, in June 2016.

On November 18, 2016 It was confirmed that Yesung joined the drama called ‘Voice’, which was aired in January 2017.

On 18 April 2017, Yesung released his 2nd mini Album, ‘Spring Falling (Yesung 2nd EP)’. The title song to his 2nd mini album was a ballad song called ‘Paper Umbrella‘.

Kim Ryeo-wook (born June 21, 1987), better known by his stage name Ryeowook, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Super Junior and its sub-groups, Super Junior-K.R.Y. and Super Junior-M. Along with four other Super Junior members, he is one of the first Korean artists to appear on Chinese postage stamps. He made his solo debut and released first solo album ‘The Little Prince’ in 2016. He released his duet ‘Cosmic‘ with Bada on 23rd of September 2016 before he went for enlistment on 11th of October 2016.

Career:

1. Pre-Debut:

Ryeowook was discovered through the ‘CMB Youth ChinChin Festival’ in 2004 and signed a contract with SM Entertainment soon afterwards impressing the judges with his singing talent. Trained in areas of singing, dancing, and acting, Ryeowook placed particular efforts into his vocal training and music composition.

Before Kyuhyun was added in 2006, Ryeowook was the last to join Super Junior several weeks before their official debut in 2005. Having undergone only two months of training, Ryeowook’s late addition was rumored to be a replacement of a previous SM trainee that was supposed to debut as a member of Super Junior 05, the first generation of Super Junior.

2. 2006 – 2008 = Debut with Super Junior, Suepr Junior K.R.Y and Super Junior-M:

3.  2009 – 2015 = Solo Activities and Super Junior K.R.Y:

Ryeowook’s first composition to be officially released was ‘Love U More‘, in the repackaged ‘Sorry, Sorry’ Version C. He co-wrote the lyrics with fellow Super Junior member Sungmin. Ryeowook is also credited for musical arrangement in the liner notes of the album.

Ryeowook is featured in K.Will’s 2009 song ‘Dropping the Tears‘. He is also the first member of Super Junior to sing a solo track included in their album, ‘One Fine Spring Day‘ was released in ‘Bonamana’.

Ryeowook made his musical theatre debut in ‘Temptation of Wolves’ alongside Park Hyung Sik of ZE:A and Lim Jeong Hee. It took place from 14 July to 30 October 2011 at the COEX Artium.

On 16 and 23 June, following the footsteps of band-mates Yesung and Kyuhyun, Ryeowook joined KBS’s ‘Immortal Songs 2′ with Sunggyu of Infinite, where singers render their own versions of songs from music legends and winners are selected by voting. He took first place in the 11 August episode where singers Lee Sang-woo and Lee Sang-eun were guests. He recorded his last episode on 16 August, which was broadcast on 25 August.

He acted as ‘Ryu Sun Ho’, a teenage North Korean soldier which suffered from PTSD and was abandoned in an uninhabited island after an unexpected storm with three other North Korean soldiers and two South Korean soldiers.

On January 8, it was revealed that Ryeowook had been cast in the musical ‘Agatha‘ as the lead role of Raymond. In 2015 Ryeowook starred in the theatrical play ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time’ playing the lead role of ‘Christopher’.

4. 2016 – present = Solo Debut and Military Service:

It was reported that Ryeowook would make his solo debut in 2016.

Ryeowook debut solo album’s title was ‘The Little Prince’. The release of ‘The Little Prince’ was not only anticipated as Ryeowook’s first official solo album since his debut 11 years ago but also because it was the first release under Super Junior’s own label, Label SJ, established by SM Entertainment in 2015 during the group’s 10th anniversary. The title track bearing the same name as the album was a ballad inspired by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novel ‘The Little Prince‘. The title track ‘The Little Prince‘ was a ballad song and a conversation between a man in pain from love and The Little Prince.

In addition to Ryeowook’s solo promotions and album release, he held his first solo concert through SMTOWN’s The Agit series called ‘Ever Lasting Star – RyeoWook‘ from February 19 until the 21st for three days at the SMTOWN’s Coex Artium in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

Super Junior Member Profile and Facts: Eunhyuk

Lee Hyuk-jae (born April 4, 1986), better known by his stage name Eunhyuk, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy group Super Junior and their subgroups, Super Junior-T and Super Junior-H. In 2011, he joined Super Junior’s Mandopop subgroup, Super Junior-M and the duo Donghae & Eunhyuk; active in China and Japan respectively.

Early Life – Pre-debut:

Eunhyuk was born Lee Hyuk-jae in Goyang, South Korea. Raised in a family that struggled financially, he was interested in street performing as a child. He got inspired by H.O.T’s Jang Woo-hyuk, Michael Jackson and singer-dancer Yoo Seung-jun. Eunhyuk trained himself at a young age. In elementary school he started a dance crew, ‘SRD’, which stood for Song Rap and Dance. The group consisted of him and his childhood friends Kim Junsu, Hwang Tae Jun, and Choi Min Seok. The crew’s popularity prospered in their hometown; and when ‘SRD’ appeared in a local newspaper, it was then that Eunhyuk cemented his dream to become an idol.

In 1999, together with Junsu he auditioned for SM Entertainment through the company’s ‘Starlight’ Casting System, at the age of 13. However he failed the audition in 1999 and entered again the following year and got in as a trainee. He began training in singing, dancing, acting, and had brief Mandarin Chinese language courses. He was also scouted with an interview offer from a top modelling agency in Seoul, yet declined due to contract issues. In the midst of trainee life in 2000, he reached SM’s master dance class and won the ‘Goyang’ citywide dance competition in 2000. In 2002, Eunhyuk, Kim Junsu, and another trainee Sungmin were placed in a project R&B group. A year later, the group along with three future members from TRAX (Jay Kim, No Minwoo, Kang Jungwoo) made a brief appearance in a show called ‘Heejun vs. Kangta’, ‘Battle of the Century: Pop vs. Rock’, in which Moon Hee-joon and Kangta taught them techniques on different types of singing. In 2003 the trio disbanded when Junsu went on to debut as a member of TVXQ. Eunhyuk and Sungmin were then placed in another project group with ten other male trainees, ‘Super Junior 05′, the first generation of rotational boy band Super Junior.

Career:

1.  2005 – 2006 = Debut with Super Junior:

Eunhyuk officially debut as part of 12-member project group Super Junior 05 on 6 November 2005 on SBS’s music programme ‘Popular Songs’, performing their first single, ‘Twins (Knock Out)’. Their debut album ‘SuperJunior05′ (Twins) was released a month later on 5 December 2005 and debuted at #3 on the monthly MIAK K-pop album charts.

In March 2006, SM Entertainment began to recruit new members for the next Super Junior generation. However, plans changed and the company declared a halt in forming future Super Junior generations. Following the addition of thirteenth member Kyuhyun, the group dropped the suffix ‘05′ and became officially credited as Super Junior. The re-polished group’s first CD single ‘U‘ was released on 7 June 2006, which was their most successful single until the release of ‘Sorry, Sorry‘ in March 2009. Through their first official album, Eunhyuk helped produce as a lyricist and wrote the rap lyrics for a majority of Super Junior’s songs. The rap lyrics to ‘Show Me Your Love‘ from the winter single with TVXQ was written by him, along with Heechul and Shindong, and ‘One Love‘, which became his solo performance in Super Junior’s first concert, Super Show.

2. 2006 – 2009 = MC-ing, Sub-Units and Variety Shows:

Eunhyuk was partnered with band-mate Leeteuk as radio DJs for KBS ‘Super Junior’s Kiss The Radio’ (aka SUKIRA) starting on 21 August 2006. With the exception of four months from March to June 2011, where band-mate Yesung temporarily replaced Eunhyuk, while he was away on promotional activities for Super Junior-M’s third extended play ‘Perfection’.

Eunhyuk replaced Kangin as MC on Mnet’s music programme ‘M! Countdown‘ in late 2006. He hosted with band-mates Leeteuk and Shindong for two years and four months. In February 2007, Eunhyuk was placed in the trot-singing sub group Super Junior-T and released the single ‘Rokkugo’. A year later, he became a member of Super Junior-H.

From 2009, along with Leeteuk and Shindong, Eunhyuk was cast as a panel for ‘Star King’. In the midst of Super Junior’s growing popularity through their 3rd studio album ‘Sorry, Sorry’, Eunhyuk became a variety member of  ‘Strong Heart’, where they hosted special segment, Boom Academy with comedian Boom. He became a member on KBS’ ‘Dream Team’, an athletic competition show and guested on ‘Intimate Note’, ‘Fantasy Couple’, ‘Miracle’ and ‘Introduce The Star’s Friend’. Super Junior’s prominence nationally and overseas lead them to their second concert tour, ‘Super Show II‘ and line-ups in 2009 Asia Song Festival, ‘Dream’ Concert, and premium live events in Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. It was then that ‘Sorry, Sorry‘ became critically and commercially successful hit in Asia; the first occasion in which the group won top honor at all of the local end-of-the-year music awards.

3. 2010 – 2011 = Musical Theater and Album Releases:

On 26 February 2010, Eunhyuk was diagnosed with H1N1 influenza, but was set to appear as a guest at label mate Girls’ Generation’s ‘Into the New World’ encore concert in Seoul, hence had to pull out and was replaced by band-mates Leeteuk and Heechul. Super Junior released their 4th studio album, ‘Bonamana’, with similar success in Korea, sweeping awards in music programs after the release date. Their follow-up song, ‘Boom Boom’, was choreographed by Eunhyuk and performed on music programs ‘Inkigayo‘ and ‘Music Core‘. On October 8, 2010, the digital single ‘Angel‘ for HARU OST was released, with Eunhyuk featuring a rap verse.

In 2011, Eunhyuk, along with Sungmin was placed two new members of Super Junior-M. On 27 September 2011, he along with Yesung and Shindong filled in for band-mate Heechul, who enlisted for mandatory military service on 1 September, during the performance on ‘Music Bank‘ and ‘Show! Music Core‘ of Kim Jang-hoon latest single, ‘Breakups are So Like Me‘. Heechul is featured in the song and starred in the music video, which was completed the day before he enlisted. ‘Mr. Simple’, Super Junior’s award-winning 5th studio album, was promoted heavily with Eunhyuk participating in much of the album’s production through choreography, and rap lyrics for the track, ‘Oops‘. The album sold over 500,000 units and won the Disk Daesang Award at the 26th Golden Disk Awards and 21st Seoul Music Awards, as well as Album of the year at the 13th Mnet Asian Music Awards. The album is listed as the 2nd best-selling album as of the year 2011.

In November, Eunhyuk made his musical theater debut in ‘Fame’, where he played Tyrone Jackson, along with Tiffany of Girls’ Generation, Son Ho Young, Lina of The Grace and Kim Jung Mo of TRAX. It was on at the Woori Financial Art Hall from 25 November 2011 to 29 January 2012. It was announced on 30 November 2011 that after five years, he and Leeteuk would leave ‘Super Junior’s Kiss the Radio‘ and was replaced by fellow members, Sungmin and Ryeowook on 4 December 2011.

4. 2011 – 2012 = ‘Oppa,Oppa‘  and Comeback with Super Junior:

On 16 December 2011 Eunhyuk and Donghae released digital single ‘Oppa,Oppa’ , where they first performed it at Super Junior’s ‘Super Show 4′ Seoul concert on 19 November 2011. This marks the first release of their collaborations. The single was also released in Japanese with an original Japanese music video on 4 April 2012. On the day of its release, it reached number two on Oricon Daily Chart with 42,114 copies sold. While also preparing for Super Junior’s first world tour ‘Super Show 4‘, the pair held a fan meeting, ‘Premium Mini Live Event‘, in support of the single on 11 April at Shibuya-AX, Tokyo.

Eunhyuk is MC for MBC every1’s ‘Super Junior Foresight’, along with fellow members Leeteuk, Kyuhyun, Yesung and Shindong. From 23 March 2012, he took over as MC for the last three live shows of singing-survival program ‘Great Birth 2‘, better known as ‘MBC Star Audition’, on MBC. As of the 10 April 2012 broadcast, following the change in MCs and the departure of Shindong from ‘Strong Heart‘, the show was re-vamped with Leeteuk and Eunhyuk billed as two of the ‘six-fixed guests’.

In June 2012, Eunhyuk reunited with his Super Junior band-mates for their sixth studio album, ‘Sexy, Free & Single‘ released on 4 July. 5. 2013 – 2014 = Comebacks with Super Junior-M, Concerts and Mini-Albums:

On January 7, 2013, Super Junior-M released their second album, ‘Break Down’, along with the music video for the lead single of the same name. A press conference took place in Beijing on January 7. They promoted the album in China. After returning to Korea, Eunhyuk heavily participated in variety shows, ‘Come to Play’ and ‘Barefooted Friends’. Because of conflicting schedules due to ‘Super Show 5: World Tour‘, Eunhyuk withdrew from both programs. Super Junior held 28 shows in total from March 2013 to February 2014, and toured in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

In the midst of concerts, Eunhyuk returned to the studio for album recording. He and Donghae released ‘I Wanna Dance’ on June 19, 2013 in Japan. The single peaked at #3 on both the Gaon and Oricon charts. Still You, the follow-up single, was released on December 18, 2013. Donghae & Eunhyuk then debuted their first studio album, ‘Ride Me’, on February 26, 2014 under Avex Trax. The song became the main theme of the Japanese TV show, ‘Sukkiri‘.

Eunhyuk returned to Super Junior-M promotions via ‘Swing’. The extended play consists six songs, which were released for digital download on March 21, 2014 in China and Taiwan by S.M. Entertainment. The group released the album in Korean music sites, such as MelOn, genie, Naver music and more, on March 31, 2014, and promoted on Korean music programs.

The first Japanese tour for sub-unit Donghae & Eunhyuk, Super Junior D&E The 1st Japan Tour, kicked off in Nagoya on March 4, 2014. After touring numerous cities, he participated in a dance project with Beat Burger, entitled ‘Beat Burger Project x Eunhyuk’. In August, the project released an official video, choreographed to Yoo Young Jin’s song ‘Mo Jazzy‘.

6. 2015 – present = Comeback with Super Junior and its Sub-Unit:

In February 2015, Donghae & Eunhyuk first Korean album, ‘The Beat Goes On‘ was released on March 9, 2015. The album had seven tracks, including the title song, ‘Growing Pains’. On April 1, Donghae & Eunhyuk released first Japanese mini-extended play called ‘Present’, which contained a total of eight songs including the lead title ‘Saturday Night’. The duo kicked off its concert tour ‘Super Junior D&E The 2nd Japan Tour’ and ‘Super Junior D&E Asia Tour’ during April to August.

Super Junior special album, ‘Devil’ was released on 16 July 2015 to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary. Eunhyuk participated in writing lyrics for song, ‘Alright’.

Personal Life:

1. Car Accident:

On 19 April 2007, almost two months after Super Junior-T’s release of their first single ‘Rokuko‘, Eunhyuk was involved in a car accident, along with Shindong, Leeteuk, Kyuhyun, and two managers, when returning home following a recording of the radio show ‘Super Junior Kiss the Radio’. While they were on the highway, the front left tire burst as the driver was switching lanes and the van ran into the guard rail/median on the driver’s side and skidded for about 30 metres. At some point, the momentum caused the van to flip over on its right side. While Shindong and Eunhyuk suffered minor injuries, Leeteuk and Kyuhyun sustained more serious injuries, which required both to be hospitalized.

2. Military Service:

On 2 September 2015, SM Entertainment announced that Eunhyuk enlisted for active duty military service on 13 October 2015. He is going to be discharged on July 12, 2017.

In 2001, Donghae signed with SM Entertainment after winning a prize at SM’s Youth Best ContestUnder SM Entertainment, Donghae was put in singing, dancing, and acting lessons, and was then recruited into a five-member boy band Smile, with future band mate Leeteuk, but the idea was soon dropped. In 2004, Donghae, along with Leeteuk were put into another boy band and formed Super Junior with ten other trainees.

2. 2005 – 2011 = Debut as a member of Super Junior and Other Activities:

Donghae officially debuted as part of 12-member project group ‘Super Junior 05′ on 6 November 2005. He made his acting debut in Super Junior’s horror documentary ‘Mystery 6′, broadcast in early 2006. The documentary surrounds Donghae and his peculiar ability to see and feel ghosts. In August 2006, Donghae played the role of a human turned cyborg in the Korean version of BoA’s music video drama, ‘Key of Heart‘.

He played a role in ‘Attack on the Pin-Up Boys’. In April 2008, Donghae was put into seven-member sub-group Super Junior-M. Donghae sang the theme song for the 2011 8th Asia Song Festival, ‘Dreams Come True‘, with Seohyun of Girls’ Generation.

In 2011, Donghae co-starred again with fellow member Siwon, in the Taiwanese drama ‘Skip Beat!’ with Ivy Chen. He also sang the ending theme song, ‘This is Love‘, also featured fellow Super Junior-M member Henry.

On December 16, 2011, Donghae & Eunhyuk began a collaboration and released ‘Oppa, Oppa’. The single was also released in Japanese, in April 2012.

3. 2012 – 2013 = Acting, Comeback with Super Junior and Subgroups:

In May 2012, Donghae was cast in the title role of Mr. Hedgehog in the romantic comedy ‘Ms Panda and Mr Hedgehog‘. Donghae also sang his character Go Seung-gi’s theme song ‘Plz Don’t‘, which was released online on 20 of August.

In June 2012, Donghae reunited with Super Junior for their sixth studio album, ‘Sexy, Free & Single’. In the repackaged edition of the album, re-titled ‘Spy’, Donghae co-wrote the lyrics for ‘Only U‘ with Leeteuk; and co-composed ‘Haru‘ with Urban Zakapa’s Kwon Soon-il.

On January 7, 2013, Super Junior-M released their second album, ‘Break Down‘. In June 2013 Donghae & Eunhyuk released their second Japanese single, and their second Korean single ‘Still You‘ on December 18, 2013.

4. 2014 – present = Acting, Comeback with Super Junior and Subgroups:

Donghae & Eunhyuk first Japanese album, ‘Ride Me’ was released on 26 February 2014. ‘Motorcycle’ was the lead single of the album. Super Junior D&E The 1st Japan Tour kicked off in Nagoya on March 4, 2014.

After one year and three months since their second album ‘Break Down’, Donghae returned with Super Junior-M to release their third extended play album, ‘Swing’.

Due to a scheduling conflict, Donghae turned down the casting offer for horror film ‘Tunnel‘; however, he was later cast as the star lead in the short film ‘The Youth-The Rumor’. Donghae joined the cast of ‘God’s Quiz‘ Season 4 as Han Si Woo, a medical researcher. The show aired its first episode on May 18.

On August 2014, it was announced that Donghae and Super Junior would be making their comeback with the group’s seventh album, ‘Mamacita’ which was released online on August 29 and in stores on September 1. In the album, Donghae contributing music and lyrics to their second lead single, ‘Shirt,’ which received raises from Allkpop – “The track is one of the most energetic on the album beyond the title track.”

In February 2015, Donghae & Eunhyuk first Korean album, ‘The Beat Goes On‘ was released on March 9, 2015. The album had seven tracks, including the title song, ‘Growing Pains‘. Donghae participated in the album production along with producers Team One Sound, The Underdogs, Hitchhiker, NoizeBank and more. On April 1, Donghae & Eunhyuk released first Japanese mini-extended play called ‘Present’, which contained a total of eight songs including the lead title ‘Saturday Night‘.  The duo kicked off its concert tour “Super Junior D&E The 2nd Japan Tour” and “Super Junior-D&E Asia Tour” during April to August.

Super Junior special album, ‘Devil’ was released on 16 July 2015 to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary. Donghae participated in writing lyrics and composing for two songs, ‘Don’t Wake Me Up‘ and ‘Alright‘.

Personal Life:

When he was 20 years old, Donghae lost his father to cancer. On 25 June 2006, Super Junior got the SBS Inkigayo Mutizen award, which was their first award. Donghae gave a thank you speech to his father who was sick.

On 2 September 2015, SM Entertainment announced that Lee Donghae would enlist as a conscripted policeman on 15 October 2015. On 15 October 2015, Donghae entered through the ‘Nonsan’ Army Training Center in Chungnam on his birthday.

Relationships – Rumors:

Donghae is rumored to be in a relationship with Dara (real name: Sandara Park) from k-pop group 2NE1. However, both sides deny the speculations.

Choi Si-won (born April 7, 1986) is a South Korean singer, songwriter, model, and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Super Junior and its Mandopop subgroup, Super Junior-M. He was one of the first four South Korean artists to appear on Chinese postage stamps.

Early Life:

Choi was born on April 7, 1986, in Seoul, South Korea. He has one younger sister, Ji-won. His father is currently the CEO of ‘Boryung’ Medicine, a pharmaceutical company. He graduated from ‘Apgu Jeong’ High School in February 2006 and from ‘Inha’ University in February 2012. 1.Pre-Debut:

Choi was scouted by a talent agent from SM Entertainment when he was 16 as he was waiting for friends in front of his high school. The agent recommended him to audition for the company’s ‘Starlight’ Casting System. He auditioned without his parent’s approval; his parents were notified only after he passed the auditions. Although his parents allowed him to sign a contract with SM Entertainment, they did not give him any help because they wanted him to take responsibility for his actions.

He later moved into dormitories with fellow trainees and was trained in areas of singing, acting, and dancing. He was featured in a music video of The Grace’s ‘Dana’ whilst he was being trained as a solo singer in 2003. 2. Debut with Super Junior and Ssuper Junior-M:

Not long after Choi’s first television appearance, SM Entertainment released an announcement that he would officially debut as one of the twelve members in a boy band. A few months before the debut of Super Junior 05, Choi made his first official media appearance with bandmate Han Geng as one of the runway models in a fashion show by Bum Suk.

Choi officially debuted as part of 12-member rotational project group Super Junior 05 on 6 November 2005 on SBS’s music programme ‘Popular Songs’, performing their first single, “Twins (Knock Out)”. Their debut album SuperJunior05 (Twins) was released a month later on 5 December 2005 and debuted at #3 on the monthly MIAK K-pop album charts.

In 2006, Siwon was cast in the Hong Kong epic film ‘A Battle of Wits’, playing the role of the Liang Prince. This also marks his film debut. Siwon received praise from co-star Andy Lau, who stated that Siwon sets a good example for Hong Kong actors.

In 2007, Choi starred in ‘Attack on the Pin-Up Boys’ along with other Super Junior members. The same year, he was cast in MBC’s 2-episode mini series ‘Legend of Hyang Dan’.

Choi graduated from ‘Inha’ University in February 2012 alongside fellow member Kim Ryeowook.

Choi enlisted as a conscripted policeman on 19 November 2015. He is set to finish his mandatory military service in the summer of 2017.

Choi is well known as a devout Christian. He frequently posts Bible quotes on his Twitter and Weibo accounts.
